My favorite author has been Roald Dahl ever since I was a kid. I grew up reading his books and even though at the time it took me a long time to fully read them, I really enjoyed the descriptive and wonderful stories. When I was first learning English I read books his short and easy to understand books like “The Enormous Crocodile” or “The Fantastic Fox” but as I learned more, I read his more complicated yet still childish and relatively easy books. Some examples are James and The Giant Peach, Boy: Tales of Childhood and his most famous book that most people are familiar with, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I also read the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which I was surprised to find out about. For those who don’t know about it, it is called Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. When I was about 10 or 11 my dad bought me a collection of his books. Every single one of them brought me joy except for the one I never read, Roald Dahl’s second autobiography known as Going Solo. His first autobiography as mentioned earlier is called “Boy: Tales of Childhood” and unlike his second one which tells stories of his adulthood this one, as said in the title, is about his childhood. The thought of reading his adult stories never appealed to my child self. I read his first autobiography for the first time in my English class but never committed to reading the second one. I eventually grew out of these books and even though I never got around to reading his more mature books Roald Dahl was still a huge part of my childhood.
